Interviewing students about activities, materials, techniques and procedures (p. 416) can be an effective way to collect data for an action research inquiry. Students can be an invaluable resource for us as we work to improve our teaching and our students' learning experience.

Before the last week wednesday, I had have an Enlish Lesson study to show many of teacners in our school An I try to survey for some imformation for Enlish Lesson to the student. It attempted before the lesson study and I choose random class. My questions are;
ReplyDelete1. Do you like my Enlish lesson?(N=24)
a-yes(18=75%), b-so so(3=13%) c-not bad(1=4%) d-no answer(2=8%)
This question means that I want to know the students are satisfy my English lesson or not.
2. What kind of activities do you like most?(N=24)
a-game(5=21%) b-role play(12=50%) c-speaking(2=8%) d-listening(1=4%) e-song & chant(4=17%)
When I was teaching English, I had showman-ship for them with native teacher usually. Because of that reason students like role-play.
3. Why don't you like speaking or listening?
a-Can't understand(8=34%) b-Haven't self-confidence(7=29%) c-Because of wrong pronounciation(4=17%) d-Engnlish is difficult(6=26%)
According to that research, If the students didn't like game, song and chant that activites level is not good to them and I didn't attemp any others it's my teaching problems. I inteospect myself and after that I will change my teaching methods for song & chant. I'll collect more interesting and easy., simple song using many animations. Because of third quesiona, I'm very surprised. The students speaking sounds were too big usually, I regardes their speaking abilities were good. But it just my own thought. Individually, I asked to correct pronounciation one-by-one. They afraid to speak English except 5-10 students. The afraid of wrong pronounciation means that Korean students laught their peers mistakes and joke them. At that time teachers asked their laughter stop. Because of that questions I have to change my English lesson method. So that opportunity becomes enlightened myself.

1. The thing that I enjoyed most in the first semester of the course was that I could share various experiences from my classmates. But I found I'm not good at communicating in English specially in speaking. So sometimes when you encouraged and made us to produce something in English in front of the whole classmates I felt really nervous and uncomfortable. For the next I think I need more preparation for the classes.
ReplyDelete2. The things that I learned in the course that I did not know before were many activities in many aspects of learning English. I want to use some of these to teach language items. And now I know what the APA is a little. It was my first time to write something in APA style so it's not unfamiliar for me but it was interesting.
3. I really want to have and remember useful contents such as activities and examples in my long term memory system.
4. The thing I found most difficult in the coursework is to communicate opinions with classmates in English as I mentioned before and to read the chapter before the class. For me it took quite long time to finish reading the book.
5. The question I would like to ask about what we have done is quite nothing right now maybe because of my lack of understanding about the coursebook. I think I will have something to ask you later.
1. Describe a typical day in English class.
ReplyDelete2. Would you say you have a good teacher? Why?
3. Are you challenged in your class?
4. How much time do you spend on speaking/conversation in class? On reading? On writing? On listening?
5. Do you use a textbook and/or workbook in class? A computer? What else do you typically use?
6. What kind of activities do you enjoy most?
7. Do you do a lot of group work? Role-play?
8. Is there anything about your class that you don't enjoy?
9. Do you believe you are improving your English through your class?
10. What might you change about your class if you were the teacher?
